Today marks a significant milestone for Print City Road. We’ve always aimed to provide the highest quality city map art for free, and today we’re taking a massive leap forward in technical fidelity.
What’s New?
We’ve completely rebuilt our rendering pipeline to handle what we call "Ultra-High Resolution" output. This isn't just about making the image larger; it's about making every single detail count.
1. 4800px Ultra-High Resolution
Our standard "High-Res" output has been boosted from 2400px to a massive 4800 x 6800 pixels. This exceeds the standard 300 DPI requirement for A0/A1 posters and reaches a professional 400 DPI for standard sizes. Whether you're printing on a small card or a massive wall canvas, the results will be perfectly crisp.
2. Razor-Sharp Small Roads
We’ve implemented a new "Sharpness Threshold" for our road rendering. In previous versions, very small residential streets could sometimes appear faint or blurry due to anti-aliasing. Our new engine ensures that every road, no matter how small, maintains a minimum physical pixel width for maximum clarity.
3. Professional Typography (Roboto & Roboto Mono)
We’ve integrated Google’s professional font families directly into our Canvas rendering engine. City names are now rendered in high-impact Roboto Bold, while technical coordinates use the precise Roboto Mono. This gives every poster an industrial-grade, museum-quality finish.
Inspiration & Gratitude
Innovation doesn't happen in a vacuum. Much of our visual aesthetic and road-weight logic was inspired by the excellent open-source project maptoposter by originalankur. By standing on the shoulders of giants, we've been able to bring professional-grade map art to everyone for free.
How to Try It
The upgrade is live right now! Just head to the Map Generator, search for your favorite city, and hit "🚀 Generate" in Artistic Mode. You'll see the new resolution and clarity immediately in the preview.
We can't wait to see what you create with these new specifications. Happy mapping!
